Maker Faire: Kansas City
Maker Faire 2012 in Kansas City is about 2 months away. For those that don't know what Maker Faire is:
It focuses on the "applied" (for lack of better term) arts; such as Industrial Design (transportation design, product design, exhibit design, furniture design, etc) - the arts that focus on "the making of things" and "the art of making things" - and on Engineering and Science.
Often the newest technologies (like 3D printing, CNC, etc), tools, and techniques are showcased alongside featured local and regional artists.
They often have workshops, etc for arists and the interested public to come learn about the newest technologies and tools.
"Maker Faire: Kansas City is a family-friendly event to MAKE, create, learn, invent, CRAFT, recycle, think, play and be inspired by celebrating arts, crafts, engineering, food, music, science and technology. The Call for Makers is now open. Maker Faire: Kansas City celebrates things people create themselves — from James Bond-worthy electronic gizmos to Martha Stewart-quality “slow made” foods and homemade clothes. Inspiration is ubiquitous at the festival and there are surprises around every corner for people of all ages.
Maker Faire: Kansas City is an event guided by the staff of MAKE Magazine and the Maker Faire, and is organized by Kansas City-based organizations. It is not an O’Reilly Media event. Our goal is to bring together Makers, Crafters, Inventors, Scientists, Artists, and everyone else for a faire full of fun and inspiration.
